Biography
A rare talent that can utilize a multitude of skills in poetic composition, songwriting, music production, guitar playing and singing.
JenSomeone is an all around performing and mixed media artist with her primary art form being singing and songwriting. She is a spoken word artist, video and layout artist whose ethos is one and the same. Be yourself. Be someone.
Though on paper Jen hails from the beautiful Philippine Islands, Jen’s mixed culture upbringing and global mindset has always surprised anyone who meets her.
Jen is a big part of the thrust for original music and creative acts in the Hai. Her distinct vocals and original music and acts have made memorable and diverse waves around the China indie music scene and poetry scene for six years and counting.
She recently released an album with her project band Zhao Dai and played the lead character Lauren for “Someone the Musical”. Her song Spotlight was also featured in this production and she was awarded “Best guest composer” of the production. Currently, she is working on the release of her pop-rock song “The Fifth of May” set to be released on May 5 2022. It is currently being mixed and mastered by a Grammy Award winning sound engineer Beauvallis.
Her distinct, soulful and crisp vocals and ethos for honest and original acts are what make her a welcomed staple in the Shanghai music and art scene.
Jen has also been working on her latest project band called Twilight Sanctuary. Initially started as a duo with the talented Pianist, Chad Michael who also cowrote a song “Follow Me” for Lauren’s Story . This duo packed a punch after rocking their debut set at the Avocado festival in Hangzhou as well as their Shanghai stage Debut at Yuyintang park with Raydio’s Rock Mojo among other respected original musicians in the circuit. Currently joined by the talented guitarist, composer and vocalist Alberto & ecclectic respected drummer Craig Maguire.
For someone who is a dreamer, it takes a lot of passion and mental fortitude to turn dreams into a reality. Not only does Jen have a diverse set of talents, she also has the heart and positive energy that people tend to gravitate towards. She attracts like-minded artists and fosters a creative environment for collaboration. I was first introduced to her as a possible singer for a musical production I was creating. Little did I expect that she would become a key partner in the production and establishing of many creative ventures in Shanghai.
Together, we’ve created songwriting masterclasses, artists’ networking events, and she even starred in several original musical shows from ‘Hannah’s Story ,”Drew’s Story’ to ‘Lauren’s Story’.

She radiates magnanimous, positive vibes and personifies radical creative anarchy. If anyone could manifest the impossible, it’s JenSomeone.
Jen and I have worked together twice at Elevate events. The first event was an edition of Artists on Artists, where four artists are invited to speak about whoever has inspired them the most. Jen was one of the featured speakers, and gave a short performance. The second was at a month-long series of daily performances for the One East mall in Huangpu district, Shanghai. Jen gave three performances.

ELEVATE
I found Jen to be at all times professional, attentive and a bringer of positive energy.
There is in any truly sublime performance an artist who transfigures into a centrifuge of energy, a cosmic light post, resonating so profoundly with its witnesses that long after the first encounter they are still after it. They buy albums, adapt the artist’s tenets into their heart, and continue after the artist in touring season in hopes of eventually understanding themselves as well as the artist does. Among this caliber of artists, some are possessed of a giving heart and are engaged equally on the most mundane of days as they are upon the grandest of stages in the diffusion of goodness and healing throughout the world.
What a privilege I have in knowing and composing together with such an artist. Working with her as a member of Twilight Sanctuary has pushed me to explore novel soundscapes, and this band is only one of many ensembles she has led in Shanghai. She has developed such a fascinating network of artists around the world because she forges her work through passion and excellence. And as more of Jen’s euphonic songs become available for discovery internationally, so will there increase a following enamored by the joy she radiates.

Jen and I have worked together numerous times at different events and with various organizers. We first worked together during the development and creation of Someone: the Musical. Through this project we worked together during various rehearsals, promotional events and performances. We also performed covers and her original songs at an event for various Shanghai performers and artists. Over a span of months I helped to develop and produce sections of her song “Fifth of May.” We have also worked to further develop some of her original songs. I always found Jen to be professional.

She is very supportive and encouraging throughout every step of the preparation and performance process.
I’ve worked with Jen on stage and in the studio and I can say that JenSomeone is a creative passionate being who puts her all into her art. In performances she has a vision and brings it together with everything from the lighting to the outfits.
She’s a powerful songwriter and lyricist that captures different parts of her human experience well and I’m always impressed whenever she shares her new music with me.

Jen is a very versatile musician, able to confidently perform in a concert hall in front of hundreds of people as well as to make a rowdy crowd dance on their feet at an outdoor grassroots music festival.
This versatility not only reflects in her own artistic prowess, but also in the constellation of other diverse musical talents that she naturally attracts. Her contagious energy and resilience to pursue her own dreams shine strongly when she graces the stages, making her one of the staples of Shanghai musical scene, and one of the favorites from the event organizers for her professionalism and perfectionism to her craft. It’s been a pleasure to work with Jen and to observe her blooming musical career, and I am looking forward to seeing her expand her reach and touch the hearts of the world.

Jen and her troupe are an amazing group of performers! She was the perfect addition to the Avocets lineup and we would love to work with her again in the future. She put on an energetic and entertaining show, engaging her audience and always getting them involved. She is a true professional and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great performer for their event!

She is interactive and engaging, making sure that everyone has a great time.
There are some people in life that make you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger and live
just a little bit better.
From the beginning I had a super nice feeling with Jen. She is an open-minded person always
sharing her good vibes around her. I met her during a week-end away from shanghai in the
province of Anhui during the lantern festival. I’ll keep in my mind these unforgettable
moments when we were jamming and dancing in the middle of nowhere. We had few collaborations during some events in Shanghai like at the Beernanza festival
when we shared the stage together.
We also had a lot of great parties
at Cs bar where I was playing music and she never hesitates to take the mic and begin to
mashup the party! If there is one of the most attractive persons as an artist it’s definitely
Jen. I discover an artist with a large set of talents.

I discovered a real artist without no fear to get into the
crowd to create a wonderful atmosphere with the public.
Jen was a source of thriving inspiration when me and other friends put together the very first pages of the first edition of ASPZ (A Shanghai Poetry Zine).
At those times, we were aiming at a self made indie zine that had nothing to owe to anyone and anything, unconditionally free and totally art oriented. It was a process of creation of incommensurable value, and Jen participated to it with her usual amazing enthusiasm and beautiful artistry.
Later on, ASPZ came to become the most influential international poetry & visual art magazine in China. However, the spirit of the work done for the first editions was kept at ASPZ heart. And Jen was part of that spirit.
On another note, I’m also co-founder of VOM (Very Open Mic), a big platform in Shanghai that serves as a performing stage for many artists of all types.
Jen has been supporting us since the beginning with ideas, promotion, venues networking, artistic inputs, her own performances on our stages, and much more.
Giuseppe D'Addeo
ASPZ Founder
Jen is not just a brilliant artist, she’s a source of inspiration and creativity of any kind, and a go-to individual full of much needed support and love.
JenSomeone is a musical songstress that I’ve had the pleasure of working with on several creative collaborations and professional performances. Her sultry style, unique view, and fun-loving energy come through each guitar riff and lyric that departs her lips. Jen is not afraid to experiment musically and is always pushing her boundaries.
