I can see your little toes feeling the wet shifting sand beneath you and how you looked at me with wonder and giggled at how the waves kissed your legs when the ocean first tickled your skin.., How your first hesitating hand relaxed and then repeated your gentle strokes on the mane of the horse that bent down and made its way to meet your curious gaze.., Oh the bliss the glee enjoying these simple beautiful moments with you.. But I stop and I look up at the sometimes haze filled skyline, and the fact that I need to check on a number on an app to see if the air we breath is safe or not and I think about what tomorrow would look like for you... , I wonder about the garbage collected off each floor of our thirty story flat three times a day and where it goes and if all the beautiful spaces and places that brought wonder to our eyes would be filled with dark and hazardous skies and the horse that once met your curious little fingers would grow extinct with all the other miraculous creatures just disappearing from our earth., I wonder as I try to recycle another piece of plastic,turn off the light, choose not to take a car or if any of these little things...would it even make a dent in the damage or the way things are going for our planet?, I refuse to believe that it is all futile.
